Set a date for craziness

Well, I figured out when I'm going to Tahoe for my weekend getaway from catching that cheater in the casino. And amazingly enough, my girlfriend picked it and not me and it makes me crazy about her that much more. I'll be going to Harvey's in south Lake Tahoe. We'll be going the weekend of the 29th and 30th of August. The reason for this specific date and why it's so damn cool that my girlfriend picked it is because the show for the night of the 30th is KISS! I'm definitely going to go the whole 9 and get my face painted. Not sure if I'll go with Gene or just do my own crazy look that I'll make up sometime in the next month. So, props to my girlfriend for finding and picking that date.
Also, yeah I'm an idiot, I just figured out that the reason that I'm not getting any comments on my blogs is that I have it set only on registered users... well at least I hope that that's the reason.

A nice weekend

So, about time for me to go to sleep. I spent the weekend relaxing for the most part. I went out shopping for junk yesterday, I went by one of those last chance merchandise stores by the dump and picked up almost a full compliment of glasses for the bar set I'm making. I bought 10 martini glasses 7 margarita glasses 7 highballs and lowballs, 4 brandy glasses, some apertiff glasses, 3 cognac glasses, and 6 long island glasses. That all cost me $22, then I got a beautiful piece of artwork for my mantle, it's a painting of a harbor, probably something in china from the design of the boats, kind of set at sunset. It's probably about 1.5 ft tall and 4.5 feet long, so it fits perfectly. And it was only $10. I guess it really is true that one man's trash is another man's treasure.
And I've been sleeping very well the past few days, though, last night I did wake up a couple of times, but the first time was just a bird hitting my bedroom window. Scared the crap out of me.

A great day

I didn't have time to update my blog this morning, had to just get to work after I woke up, but I fell asleep quickly last night and I had a full night of sleep, I actually slept 9 and a half hours. I can't remember when was the last time I slept that long, uninterrupted. Well actually I can, but it was a few months ago. The Ambien I ordered worked great. I also got a call from the customer support people at licensed rx.com, to inform me that my order had arrived, I guess they couldn't see that I had already picked it up or something. But today at work was great, I didn't need any coffee or tea or anything, I felt refreshed the whole day through. I even pulled off a spiderman catch of a tripping waitress with her drinks, that was pretty cool for sure. Well, I'm off to sleep again, going to try without the meds tonight just to see if it was a fluke or not. Good night everyone

Well, they're here

So, a few weeks ago, I had ordered some Ambien from an online pharmacy, and I came home today and had a registered mail slip for them in my box, I went to the post office and picked them up, and now I'm about to see if they're worth it. I'll talk to all of you in the morning to tell you how it went.

Night shift

So I worked the night shift this past night, 9pm-4am. It's when all the crazies come out. You get a lot of those old ladies who will sit infront of a slot machine for hours on end who never seem to run out of quarters, they zombies, makes you wonder why they're there in the middle of the night, makes me wonder with all the people there in the middle of the week in the middle of the night if they have problems sleeping too.

About 11pm is when you get the most young people come in who are just barely able to come in, like with birthdays in the past 5 months that get all offended when you ask for their ID. I say, if you're lucky enough to look under 30, be happy when I ask you for your identification. I think that's actually from a sign in a liquor store.
I do feel bad sometimes for kids that come in after watching a ton of ESPN 2 poker tournaments and think they're going to leave with a lot of money. Just because you can read your friends poker faces doesn't mean you are going to do well with pros. Had one kid actually break down crying when he lost his money last night... there's one of those every now and then.

I got called over to the bar at about 3am to escort a guy out who had a touch too much and wouldn't leave and he threatened me with an ashtray. Needless to say, that's not the right thing to do around someone trained to deal with stuff like that. He was a big guy so it took me a few seconds to disarm him of the ashtray and then another guard came over and we ziptied his hands and took him outside and cut him loose. I haven't had to actually fight anyone in a while, but it's always a nice boost of adrenaline when I do.
I just checked the tracking for my ambien order, looks like it should be here tomorrow or the day after, it's at some distribution center here in california.

Sorta Goooood morning

Well the morning is good, even if the sleep proceeding it wasn't. I slept, but not well, and I still feel completely exhausted. I had that sleep last night where I'd fall asleep, think I slept 8 hours and then wake up 30 min later, then stay up for 45 min and repeat the process. I remember having some sort of dream regarding squirrels... yeah, I know, weird. Well, the Ambien I ordered online should be arriving this week, so that will be good. Well, it's time to get ready for work.

Getting ready for the weekend

So I am getting ready for the weekend. I forgot when the Ambien i ordered was supposed to arrive so I called their customer service and was amazed when I didn't sit on hold at all, and was answered by a nice girl who really spoke English who informed me it should most likely arrive either tomorrow or sometime during next week.
My manager got back to me about the cheater I caught, his total was at 16,300 before we got him. As a result, I have a weekend for 2 with all expenses paid at one of our sister casinos up in the Lake Tahoe area. How's that for job satisfaction for you? I also get a free show, so I'm waiting to find a weekend when there's a show that's worth going to. The debate now is whether to go with my best friend or my girlfriend. I'm leaning towards doing it with my girl, because it's Tahoe. If it were Vegas, I'd go with my best friend. In any case, if I can't sleep when I'm at a casino, there will be plenty for me to do.

Healthier, wealthier and wiser

So I got another good night sleep last night after taking half of one of my girlfriend's ambien. And today was a great day. I got up, made myself a full breakfast; eggs, turkey bacon, OJ, and cereal. Then I watched a couple of TV shows I had recorded, I recently got into that show "The Middleman" it's a funny show. Anything with masked wrestlers with Japanese names has to be interesting. So after catching up with the other shows, I went to work around noon.
I felt more alert and upon entering I was able to pull an underage girl out of the bar right off the bat. After that the day only got better. On my afternoon break I played a token I found on the ground and won $75 from it on one play of the slots. Then while talking with one of our bartenders I caught a falling bottle of expensive brandy, I forgot how much he said it was, but I could never bring myself to pay that much for a single drink of it, ever(though my earlier winnings may have gotten me half way there), but he promised me a small glass after my shift.
And to cap it off I caught a guy cheating at the end of the day at the blackjack table who would have managed to get off with about $15,000. It was a pretty basic scam, he had a rotating group of people who were positioned to see the dealer's hand when he looked at his face down card and would signal him accordingly. Of course we watch anyone who is earning more than a certain % of their buy-in more closely, but I intercepted the signals and caught the guy playing. I do hope the dealer doesn't get fired though for the incident.
As a thank you the security manager said he was going to try to get me a night's stay in one of the sister casinos up in Tahoe meals and a show. Oh, and when I left work, that brandy I was promised was a little slice of heaven. And I believe it was all because of a good night's sleep.

A weekend to myself

I don't work Fridays and Saturdays even though they pay more just because I really like having that time to myself. I took this past weekend to head down to big sur to go for a scuba trip with some old friends of mine. Friday night I didn't sleep, but it was actually nice because I got to stay up, roast marsh mellows and watch the stars. Luckily I got 3 hours of sleep right before the morning so I wasn't all spaced out while diving(very not good combination). I saw a lot of little fish, some skates, and either a guitar fish/angel shark, I'm not sure which as it was half covered in sand and I didn't feel like disturbing it. One of my friends thought it was an electric ray, so that's extra reason to stay the hell away from it. I think I'll take another of my girlfriend's ambien and turn in for the night.

So after emailing my girlfriend she sent me the link to the website, I know I've heard weird stuff about online pharmacies, but after last night I'm pretty much convinced, and with the trouble I've been having with my shrink this might be well worth it if the problems continue. www.licensed-rx.com. I just ordered a small order to test it for myself, I got a friendly confirmation call from someone who wasn't some foreigner with an impossible accent and a whole bunch of informative confirmation emails. So, so far, so good.

A goodnight's sleep

So, my girlfriend was a little annoyed the other night with me constantly waking up in the middle of the night and as a result of that, waking her up too. So last night she brought me by some kind of generic ambien she said she had used the last time she flew to Europe and I actually slept the whole night through. It was nice, I'm pretty sure I had a dream about an old meditation practice I did in college with a cube and a horse and some other stuff, except the horse was asleep too. Unfortunately, when I woke up, I my girlfriend had already left for work so I couldn't really ask her where she picked up the pills at.

Define Insomnia

I was sent a message today from some college kid on facebook, who also has insomnia, though it quickly became very clear that it wasn't very severe. I asked him to describe the symptoms of his insomnia, to which he just replied he can't sleep. I asked how long he would go without sleep, and he told me it was just random nights. Every other week or so. I told him that he probably didn't have a big problem and that his could probably just be solved through natural remedies.
I suggested all the good old ones, like a glass of warm milk, c-span, chamomile, lavender, all that jazz. Since he is in college the main cause of insomnia there is probably just stress. Most college campuses have some free psychiatric help, so I suggested that if it keeps up that he could visit the health center to talk with someone and get therapy.
It's good to be able to help people find treatment for insomnia based on my own experience.

Pondering my job

So I was pondering tonight a going on of something that happened at work yesterday. I work casino security, not like the pit bosses you see in movies, but general security. I'm am a supervisor and I caught one of the new employees dozing off at a security monitor. I know the feeling but I never let it happen to myself. So I poked him back into full consciousness, gave him an espresso and told him to keep alert. The rest of the day was pretty routine, two kids with fake IDs trying to gamble, one person who demanded his money back, and kicking out 4 prostitutes that were too obvious for their own good. I like the fake ID cases the most because kids always think up huge back stories to go with their ID. I caught one of them up after he told his life story by asking if he was an organ donor(which he wasn't), and the other one after his life story didn't know the capitol of Nebraska(where his ID was from).
Amazingly enough I was about to get about an hour sleep on my break, for some reason the couch in our break room makes me fall asleep really well, I may talk to my boss about just buying the thing or trading it for mine, who knows?
